The Visakha Christian Forum for Creation Care (VCFCC) has launched a collaborative initiative uniting churches across Visakhapatnam to address urgent environmental concerns. This follows a landmark board meeting held on May 8, 2025, at the Visakha Public Library, where pastors from diverse fellowships and mainline denominations convened to affirm the biblical mandate to care for God’s creation. This forum is supported by Swanthana, Transbiblica, and EFICOR.

The meeting, moderated by Rev. Stephen Peter of QMB Church, emphasized the church’s prophetic role in environmental stewardship. The session opened with remarks by Mr. Salathel Nalli of Transbiblica, who spoke on the theological imperative to protect God’s creation. Rev. Peter built on this foundation, offering biblical insights and calling churches to action.

Churches have unanimously agreed to observe June 8, 2025, as Creation Care Sunday, with sermons dedicated to the biblical call to environmental care. Additionally, they will come together to observe World Environment Day on June 5, 2025, engaging in citywide activities such as rallies, beach clean-ups, and community advocacy.

To support these initiatives, VCFCC will host quarterly meetings to track progress and enhance collaborative creation care efforts. Churches pledged to adopt eco-friendly practices, including the elimination of single-use plastics at events, promotion of terrace gardens and tree planting, responsible electricity and water use, and the cultivation of environmental awareness within homes and among children.

EFICOR, Swanthana, and Transbiblica will also develop Sunday School materials to instill creation care values in children from an early age.

VCFCC extends heartfelt appreciation to Mr. Daniel Boppuri, Mrs. Sujatha Rani, and Mr. Swami Das Garu for their vital contributions. Special thanks are also due to Rev. Deva Prasad and the United Religions Initiative (URI) for their ongoing support.

Rooted in Psalm 24:1, “The Earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it,” the VCFCC is committed to mobilizing the Church in Visakhapatnam to live out environmental stewardship as an act of worship and witness.

The Visakha Christian Forum for Creation Care (VCFCC) is a collaborative platform that brings together Christian churches in Visakhapatnam to advocate for environmental responsibility. Through education, engagement, and sustainable practices, VCFCC promotes the biblical call to care for creation.
